Julie Collins

Senior Director, Public Affairs

Julie joined the Port of Seattle in 2015 as the Senior Director of Public Affairs.  Her leadership is driven by a deep commitment to public service and achieving strategic goals with collaborative and innovative teamwork.

In addition to serving on the Port’s Executive Leadership Team, she is responsible for government relations, communications, community engagement, regional transportation and social responsibility.  The Public Affairs team directly supports the external work of the Port’s Executive Director, the elected Port Commissioners and business division leaders.
Prior to joining the Port of Seattle, Julie spent several years managing government relations and various public and economic development-oriented activities at the Port of Tacoma.  In her role as the Chief External Affairs Officer, she was a staff lead in the conception and launch of The Northwest Seaport Alliance – a historic cargo management joint venture between the ports of Seattle and Tacoma.

Her public policy experience also includes working for two Members of Congress - both in Washington, D.C. and as District Director, and managing local issue programs at the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and completed the business executive development program at the UW Foster School of Business. Her favorite times away from work are spent skiing, hiking or travelling with her husband and two children.
