Port of Seattle Fire Department Welcomes New Firefighters

The Port of Seattle Fire Department (POSFD) recently hired three new members as part of a federal grant hiring firefighters laid off from struggling departments.  As part of their introduction to the port, the commission president publicly administered an “oath of honor” to the new members at a Port of Seattle Commission meeting. All three members joined the Port of Seattle Fire Department on July 9, 2011. 

Jenson Evans

Evans graduated from the Washington State Fire Academy where he was honored with the prestigious Leadership Award.  He started his career as a resident firefighter with East Jefferson Fire & Rescue before becoming a part-time firefighter and eventually a career firefighter with Marysville Fire District.  Evans is involved in numerous community activities and fundraisers. 

Eric Conklin

Conklin has over eight years of experience in the Fire Service; working with the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District, Belmont-San Carlos Fire Department and the Presidio of San Francisco Fire Department.  Conklin and his wife moved from California.

Einar Mikkelsen

Mikkelsen also joined us from California where he started his career as an Emergency Medical Technician before joining Merced Fire Department.  Einar graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Oakland, CA.  Mikkelsen moved to Seattle with his wife.

Terry “Stolty” Stoltenberg

January 8, 1949 ~ September 17, 2012
 
With a heavy heart, IAFF Local 1257 and Port of Seattle Fire Department announce the passing of Fire Fighter Terry Stoltenberg. Terry was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on September 17, 2012, outside of Yakima, Washington. He joined the Port of Seattle Fire Department 32 years ago after serving as a Green Beret in the Army Special Forces. An avid motorcycle rider, Terry also enjoyed antique cars and boxing. Terry is survived by his wife Maria, son Nick, and many other family members, including his niece Kim, a Central Pierce Fire Fighter.
