Task Force Units
The Port of Seattle Police Department partners with several law enforcement agencies to investigate crimes and combat a number of security threats.
DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) Task Force
The DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) Task Force is a multi-agency narcotics team covering transportation centers (i.e., airport, train stations and bus depots). Our DEA Task Force detectives also train POSPD officers and detectives in narcotic trafficking detection.
Puget Sound Joint Terrorism Task Force (PSJTTF)
The Puget Sound Joint Terrorism Task Force (PSJTTF) was formed in 2000. Participating agencies provide personnel to work with the FBI in conducting domestic and international terrorism investigations. The taskforce uses the skills, experience and resources of local agencies to prevent and solve acts of terrorism and support cases nationally and internationally.
ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement)
ICE has partnered with federal, state, and local law enforcement counterparts to create the Border Enforcement Security Task Force (BEST) initiative, a series of multi-agency teams developed as a comprehensive approach to identifying, disrupting and dismantling criminal organizations posing significant threats to border security. The teams are designed to increase information sharing and collaboration among the agencies combating this threat on both sides of the border. BEST teams have been established at critical seaports to address smuggling and other criminal activity at maritime ports of entry. Seattle Seaport BEST consists of: ICE-Homeland Security Investigations, Port of Seattle Police Department, Seattle Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service.
