​Security and Driver Training

New and Renewal SIDA, AOA and AMA Badge Holders

Training is required before the following badges can be issued:

  • SIDA (red badge) - SIDA training required every 24 months
  • AOA (blue badge) - SIDA and AOA training required every 24 months
  • AMA (blue badge with AMA designation) - SIDA and AOA training required every 24 months; AMA training required every 12 months
  • Authorized signatory - required every 24 months

Important Reminder - Recurrent training is required before your badge can be renewed.

SIDA Only (Security Identification Display Area)

Required for all airport personnel who will be working in restricted areas.

Must present proof of fingerprinting and a government-issued photo ID.

Renewals:

SIDA/AOA Combined (Includes both SIDA and AOA (Air Operations Area) Training) 

SIDA is required for all airport personnel who will be working in restricted areas. AOA is required for driving on the ramp or non-movement area of the airfield.

AMA Only (Air Movement Area) Driver Training Program

Class Prerequisite: SIDA/AOA Combined

For personnel needing access to runways, taxiways and/or who have a need to contact the FAA Air Traffic Control Tower or the ramp tower (Who Needs AMA Training?) (PDF)

Required for:

  • Employees who are due to retake the AMA training in order to meet the 12-month recurrent AMA training requirement, but who are not yet due to retake SIDA and AOA training, which must be taken every 24 months.
  • Employees upgrading from an AOA badge to an AMA badge. For more information see Who Needs AMA Training?

Authorized Signatory Training
SIDA is required for all Authorized Signers and airport personnel who will be working in restricted areas.

Who Needs What Class?​

If you are obtaining a new, or renewing an expiring RED badge, please register for the SIDA ONLY (Security Identification Display Area) class to complete the required security training.
  • SIDA training is required every 24 months, within the month of your badge renewal.
If you are obtaining a new, or renewing an expiring BLUE badge (without AMA designation), please register for the SIDA/AOA class to complete your required training. 
  • AOA training is required every 24 months, within the month of your badge renewal.
If you are obtaining a new, or renewing an expiring BLUE badge (with AMA designation), please register for the SIDA/OAO/AMA class to complete your required training. 

If you only need AMA training, please register for the AMA class to complete your required training.  If you are unsure what you need, please contact the Training Center at (206)-787-6862 or email AirportTraining@portseattle.org for assistance. 
  • AMA training is required every 12 months, within the month of your badge renewal.
Authorized signatory classes are offered for employees that are authorized to sign badge applications.
  • Authorized signatory classes are offered on a "walk-in" basis only.
  • Authorized signatory training is required every 24 months.
If you are renewing your badge, you must complete your required training before your badge appointment.  If you have additional questions about which class you need or don't remember when you last completed SIDA/AOA training, please contact the SIDA/AOA Training Center via phone at (206)787-6862 or via email at AirportTraining@portseattle.org.
