The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has offered the port a $1.2 million grant to scrap an additional 40 trucks. The incentives to truck owners will cover 50 percent of the purchase price of a truck with a 2010 or newer engine up to a maximum of $30,000.
The grant agreement and procedures are still being finalized. The port hopes to begin offering incentives under the grant in August. A waiting list has been established.
