Bell Harbor Marina Hosted the Fleet in 2016
Bell Harbor Marina was thrilled to host the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race in April 2016!
The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, which benefits Unicef, is the world’s longest ocean adventure and regarded as one of the toughest endurance challenges on the planet. Spanning 40,000 nautical miles, the race takes almost a year to complete and consists of 12 teams competing against each other on the world’s largest matched fleet of ocean racing yachts. Visit the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race website for complete details.
The 70-foot ocean racing vessels were in Seattle after finishing a 25-plus day, 5,400 nautical mile race from Quindao, China. There were opportunities to board the vessels, speak with racers, envision what it would be like to sail around the world, and even sign-up for the following year's race! Visitors and Seattleites alike cheered on the racers via land and flotilla as they departed for the Panama Canal on their way to New York for the next leg of the race.
