Port expands Sea-Tac Airport advertising opportunities to statewide tourism marketers

Building on the success of "Spotlight," the Port is expanding the economic development program to tourism destination marketing organizations (DMOs) statewide.

Originally launched in 2017, Spotlight reserved 10 percent of advertising locations at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for the six cities around Sea-Tac as well as DMOs in King County. The program now is open to communities and DMOs throughout the state.

Under the program, the Port covers the cost of reserving the advertising location. Local cities and DMOs will pay for production and installation. The Spotlight program offers significant savings over the typical cost of advertising at Sea-Tac, which averages approximately $4,600-$10,000 per month for space, printing and installation. There will be a total of 18 advertising opportunities, with signage located throughout airport concourses and baggage claim.

Communities and destination marketing organizations are encouraged to submit an application for the Spotlight program. Applications were due February 15 and successful organizations will be notified starting Feb. 20, 2018.

Who should apply

Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) representing a city or region within Washington state are encouraged to apply for advertising space at Sea-Tac Airport.

How to apply

The Application form, listed below, should be submitted to by 2 p.m. on Thur., Feb. 15. Applicants should identify, on the application form, the highlighted tourism message, event or attraction for their proposed sign advertisement.
