ID Badges

The Airport ID Access Office is responsible for issuing identification badges and keys for restricted and public areas, ramp insurance/permits and assigning access into restricted areas. We provide this service for approximately 79,000 customers per year. Our customers are comprised of airline employees, tenants, contractors, vendors, consultants, government employees, and Port of Seattle employees.

ID Access Office Hours

New and renewal badge appointments: Monday-Thursday, 6:00 a.m - 3:30 p.m, and Friday, 6 a.m. - 11 a.m. Please note: The ID Access office will be closed on October 16 and October 23. The office is also closed on all Port of Seattle holidays.

The ID Access Office is located in the Main Terminal between the B and C Concourses on the Mezzanine level, office number MT 6002.

Badging Process

The process for new ID badge applications typically requires two appointments:

Appointment 1 - New Badge Application

Appointment II - Security and Driver Training (if required)

Register online for training.

Required Documentation for New and Renewal ID Badges

Applicants must submit one ID from each category:

Category One - Proof of Citizenship

  • U.S. Birth certificate (certified copy)
  • U.S. passport with photo ID (can be expired)
  • Military ID (active only)
  • Official U.S. Government: Certificate of Naturalization from Immigration and Naturalization Services
  • Official U.S. Government: Certificate of Native American Origin
  • Official U.S. Government: Employment Authorization Card
  • International passport (must be current with photo ID)
  • Alien Registration Card: I–94 or Green Card
  • Work authorization (must include alien registration number)
  • Other, approved by Transportation Security Administration or U.S. Government

Category Two - Secondary Photo ID

  • State driver's license
  • Valid state-issued ID card

Making Appointments

Appointments are required for new and renewal badge applications. It's best to make appointments at least five days in advance. U.S. Custom Security Seal applications can be dropped off in advance of your appointment.

Check Application Status

You can check the status of your pre-badging background check by e-mail at idbadgescheduling@portseattle.org. When checking on the the status of a pre-badging background check, please provide your employee ID number and the last three digits of yoru social security number. Your employee ID number is on the ID Access Control receipt. Be sure to use the employee ID number, not the badge number, which is also on the receipt.

Once you have passed the required security checks and successfully completed training, you can pick up your badge in the ID Access Office.

Renewing your Badge

You can only renew your badge within 60 days of its expiration date.

To renew:

1. Schedule your renewal appointment

2. If applicable, submit US Customs application at least five business days before your renewal appointment at IDAccess. Completed US Customs applications should be deposited in the US Customs box outside of the ID Access office.

3. Register for the required recurrent training course for your badge type.

Your training appointment must occur before your badge appointment.

4. You must bring the following documents to your renewal appointment:

Reporting a Lost or Stolen Badge

To report a lost or stolen badge, please e-mail the ID Access office at securitynews@portseattle.org. Please note: There are significant penalty fees for replacement of a lost or stolen badges.

Employee Termination / Badge Deactivation

The ID Access office must be notified immediately when a badge holder's employment has been terminated. Please use the Badge Deactivation notification form for all termination notifications and badge deactivation requests. You can reach us by phone at (206) 787-6859, but you must submit the notification form to report a deactivation.

Please note: This notification does not change the current procedure requiring the return of all badges to the ID Access office along with a completed ID Badge Multi-Accountability form (#98-723 Rev 10/06) (60 KB PDF).

All badges not returned back to the ID Access office within 30 days of a badge holder's employment termination shall have a $250.00 fine assessed.
