How to Apply

We encourage all applicants to review our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) before applying.

In order to view or apply for any of our current openings, please click here to go to our online employment application system, Candidate Gateway.

Applicants for Internships should also use Candidate Gateway. Internships will be noted in the Job Title.

Submitting Your Application

Apply online using Candidate Gateway. All data submitted is encrypted and secure. During the online application, you will be able to upload your cover letter, resume, internship learning objectives, transcripts, and other documents. If you are an applicant in need of a reasonable accommodation in order to complete the online application or submit your application materials, please contact the Port of Seattle’s Human Resources and Development department at 206/787-3836. You may also contact the WA Relay Service (TTY) at 7-1-1 or 800/833-6388.

Please note: Hardcopy and fax applications are no longer accepted. Our new online application system, Candidate Gateway, replaces all prior methods of applying for employment at the Port of Seattle.

Application Considerations

  • Applications will be evaluated for open positions only.
  • Individuals wishing to be considered for the posted positions must submit applications by the advertised closing date by 11:59 p.m. The system will not accept late applications.
  • Applicants must complete a Port of Seattle application using Candidate Gateway, the Port of Seattle's online application system.
  • Applicants are required to complete a separate application for each position for which they apply.
  • Applications may be supplemented with a resume and cover letter using the online application in Candidate Gateway.
  • The Port reserves its option to use random sampling for high-volume positions.
  • Consideration may be given to a combination of equivalent education and experience in evaluating the stated requirements.
  • Interviews are by invitation only, and are scheduled by the Human Resources and Development Department.
  • In compliance with the Immigration Reform Act, all employment offers will be contingent upon selected applicants providing acceptable proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States.
  • Some positions will require security clearance, and job offers will be contingent upon the ability to pass the applicable security background checks.
  • The Port of Seattle will provide reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.
  • Applicants for positions requiring a Commercial Driver's License will be required to participate in the Port of Seattle Drug and Alcohol Program as required by the Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration.
