When this unit was formed in 1993, it had just two officers; today there are 20.
Their ability to maneuver in crowds and quick response to calls makes them the ideal unit to patrol Sea-Tac Airport and
staff special public events such as the Maritime Festival, the Fall Fisherman's Festival and Seafair.
To join the unit, every officer must complete a bicycle operator's certification course through the International Mountain Bike Association or the Law Enforcement Bicycle Association. They master traversing stairs, cycling at slow speeds, rapid dismounts and other challenging maneuvers.
