Contractor Procedures

Airport Procedures

Airport ID Badge Procedure

An ID badge is required for most work at the airport. The three-step process for applying for and obtaining a badge is as follows. See bid documents for project-specific requirements.

  1. Application process: fill out the application form obtained from the ID office.
    • ID & Badge Application
    • Key Work Request
    • ID Badge Access Control Authorization
    • PORT employee and Contractor's Authorized Signatory must sign all forms.
  2. Fingerprinting
    • Bring completed forms to ID office, take a number and wait.
    • Bring cash or company check for fee amount
    • Get fingerprinted, wait 1-3 weeks for approval
  3. Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) and Air Operations Area (AOA) Classes.

    SIDA training is required for all badges. Classes are available Monday through Friday at:

    • 7:30 am
    • 8:15 am
    • 10:00 am
    • 1:00 pm (not Friday)
    • 1:45 pm (not Friday)

    AOA training is required for ramp driving privileges. Classes are available Monday through Friday at:

    • 9:00 am
    • 10:45 am

Register for class in advance at the ID Office.

Parking

Pre-paid monthly parking is available for unlimited use. The garage clearance height is limited to six feet six inches. Parking for over-height vehicles is available at the airport, near the parking garage.

Safety

Upon award, the contractor assumes full and sole responsibility for and shall comply with all laws, regulations, ordinances, and governmental orders pertaining to safety in the performance of the contract.

Airport PLA

The Port of Seattle has entered into a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) for construction of the multi-year Seattle Tacoma International Airport (AIR PORT) Modernization Project. All contractors awarded to perform work on any portion of this project are required to comply. (Seaport projects are currently exempt.)

Airport OCIPS

The Port of Seattle has entered into an Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIPS). All contractors awarded to perform work on certain insured projects at the airport are required to enroll. (Seaport projects are currently exempt.)

Airport RMM

Asbestos awareness training is required for all contractor labor personnel. Classes are held every Friday. For further information, contact Mike Harris at (206) 444-6761.

Safety
