Even though the Port of Seattle operates in a global marketplace, King County and the Pacific Northwest are its home, and where its employees live and raise their families. We all share an interest in the safety, environmental quality and prosperity of our community.

Port business activities create jobs and opportunity, but the Port is not all about business. Our leaders seek the balance between the need to be financially sustainable and the needs of our local economy; between economic growth and environmental concerns; and between the smooth flow of travel and international commerce and effective security measures.

There's a lot riding on the Port's decisions, because the outcomes can affect our economy and quality of life for years to come. That's why we involve other concerned parties in planning committees, and why we participate on boards and committees addressing trade and transportation issues.

The Port supports community programs that promote education and tourism, helps match employers with employees, and develops partnerships with other organizations that share common goals for the future of the region. Our global perspective and local participation help us fulfill our mission here.
