(Seattle)--Parking rates in the garage at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport will return to normal at midnight tonight. The airport has been providing up to one-hour of free parking for those dropping off or picking up passengers at the airport.
Overall, this was one of the best Thanksgiving holidays at Sea-Tac in recent memory.
"We appreciate the number of passengers who showed up early for their flights," said Gina Marie Lindsey, Managing Director of Aviation for the Port of Seattle. "The airlines tell us the early arrivals really helped smooth things out at the ticket counter."
The Port of Seattle recommends that travelers plan to arrive at Sea-Tac 90 minutes before domestic flights, two hours before international flights.
Additionally, airport patrons utilized other means to pick up and drop off passengers, such as free parking in the garage and alternative transportation means, which helped to reduce congestion and traffic on the airport drives.
The airport also benefited from weather around the nation. There were no major storms affecting airports in the Midwest or Eastern U.S. that could have stranded travelers at Sea-Tac.
