Feds Take Over Sea-Tac's Two Busiest Checkpoints on Tuesday

Transportation Security Administration transitions to C/D and D/N checkpoints

The US Transportation Security Administration will begin handling passenger screening duties at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport's two busiest checkpoints at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002.

The two checkpoints are known as the C/D and the D/North checkpoints. They serve the C & D concourses and the north satellite. Alaska, American, Horizon and United are the major airlines in those portions of the airport.

At the airport's other three checkpoints, the transition from contract security to TSA resulted in some screening delays as TSA personnel acclimated to the operation. The Port of Seattle recommends that travelers on the affected airlines be at the airport two hours before the scheduled departure of their flight.
