Port of Seattle Commission Names 2003 Officers

Patricia Davis was elected Chair of the Port of Seattle Commission by her fellow Commissioners at the Port's regular meeting today. Other Commission officers for 2003 are: Paige Miller, Vice Chair; Clare Nordquist, Secretary; Lawrence Molloy, Assistant Secretary; and Bob Edwards, Commissioner.

Davis succeeds Bob Edwards, who served as Chair of the Commission in 2002. Davis is a 17-year veteran of the Port Commission and has served as Chair on four previous occasions. During her tenure on the Commission Davis has played a key role in the development of a long-range strategic plan for seaport development and the construction of modern facilities for the movement of cargo and people. She also played a part in successful efforts to reduce airport noise and clean up polluted industrial sites, returning them to economically productive uses. She also served as President of the Washington Council on International Trade from 1994 to 2001 and is currently a member of WCIT's Board of Directors.

Vice Chair Paige Miller was first elected to the Commission in 1987. An attorney, Miller sits on the Board of PortJOBS, the Trade Development Alliance, the Downtown Seattle Association and the Seattle Chinese Garden Society in addition to a number of other community organizations.

Secretary Clare Nordquist was appointed to the Commission in 1998 and subsequently elected to the post in 1999. Nordquist is a venture capitalist and has a long record of public involvement, including serving as Chair of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Chair of the Eastside Business Roundtable and a director of the Bellevue Convention Center Board.

Lawrence Molloy, Assistant Secretary of the Commission, was elected in 2001. A Technology Officer with EBARA Corporation of Japan, Molloy serves on the Board of the Transportation Choices Coalition and the Rainier Valley Transit Advisory Committee. He is a former official with the U.S Environmental Protection Agency where he was recognized for his work on civil rights and the environment.

Commissioner Bob Edwards, the Commission's outgoing Chair, was elected in 1999. Edwards is a former Renton City Council member and a past President of the Puget Sound Regional Council. Edwards is an investment analyst.
