Avoid Gridlock at the Locks

Moor at Fishermen's Terminal for Opening Weekend

Recreational boaters have a new alternative to long lines at the Ballard Locks on opening weekend of the boating season -- overnight guest moorage at the Port of Seattle's Fishermen's Terminal. Opening Day festivities are scheduled for the weekend of May 3-4.

"We have a great freshwater location and a full complement of services," said Kenny Lyles, General Manager of Fishermen's Terminal. "It's an excellent option for overnight moorage inside the Locks."

Fishermen's Terminal offers easy access to marine supply stores, a wide variety of dining options, pump out facilities, rest rooms, showers, a laundry room, security cameras and staff on duty around the clock.

Slips can accommodate vessels from 20 to 60 feet in length. The daily rate for guest moorage is 65 cents per foot per day. For slip assignment call 206-728-3395 or radio in on VHF Channel 17.

Fishermen's Terminal has been the home of the North Pacific fishing fleet since 1914 and the fishing industry remains the facility's top priority, but available slips may be used for recreational boats.

Shilshole Bay Marina and Bell Harbor Marina, two of the Port's saltwater marinas, also offer convenient access to the Locks, guest moorage and a wide range of services and amenities. Shilshole is located just half a mile north of the west end of the Lake Washington Ship Canal. Bell Harbor Marina is at Pier 66 along Seattle's central waterfront.

At Shilshole and Bell Harbor guest moorage is 75 cents per foot per day. Reservations are recommended for both facilities. Vessels up to 120 feet long can be accommodated. Reach Shilshole by phoning 206-728-3006 or call in on VHF Channel 17. Contact Bell Harbor Marina at 206-615-3952 or on VHF Channel 66A.
