This week, many of the baggage claim carousels at Sea-Tac Airport were re-numbered in order to prepare for the addition of four baggage claim carousels in the new Concourse A, scheduled to open in June. The airport's carousel numbering system starts on the south end of the terminal. The renumbering means that the former #1 baggage claim carousel in the south end of the terminal is now #5.
“We haven't changed the airlines served by the baggage carousels or their locations, we've just changed the numbers on the carousels,” said Michael Ehl, airport operations manager. “Some people give meeting directions based on baggage carousel numbers, so it's important people know the numbers have changed.”
In general, the carousels are located on the baggage claim level directly below the ticket counter for the airline they serve, with the exception of carousel #5, which currently serves all international flights.
