Port of Seattle Appoints Strout Deputy CEO
Linda Strout has been named Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Port of Seattle. Strout has been with the Port for 15 years and has been General Counsel since 1991. She will retain that role in addition to serving as Deputy CEO.
Strout joined the Port in January 1989 as a staff attorney. Prior to coming to the Port, she was a principal in the Seattle firm of Skellenger and Bender, where she practiced commercial and municipal law for nine years.
As General Counsel, Strout oversees and manages all legal services for the Port and serves as primary legal advisor to the Port Commission and Chief Executive Officer. She also provides oversight for the Port's Risk Management, Environmental Services, Records Management, Health and Safety Services, Contract Compliance and Claims functions. In her expanded roles as Deputy CEO she will also oversee the Port Police Department.
"Linda has served this institution extremely well for 15 years," said Port of Seattle CEO M. R. Dinsmore. "She has been instrumental in our efforts to expand Sea-Tac Airport and build the Third Runway. In addition, she has assembled highly capable and well respected legal and environmental staffs that do exceptional work under her leadership."
Strout earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Washington and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Puget Sound School of Law (now Seattle University). She has been a member of the Washington Bar since 1979. She served as president of the 5,000-plus member King County Bar Association in 1998 to 1999, and served on the Association's Board of Trustees from 1991 to 1998. She currently serves on several outside Boards, including Artist Trust Board of Trustees, Columbia Legal Services Board of Trustees and Seattle University - School of Law Alumni Board of Governors.
Strout is a Seattle native. She and her husband, David (also an attorney), reside in West Seattle.
