Port of Seattle Announces Additional Air Service to Taipei

China Airlines to provide three weekly trips to Sea-Tac

The Port of Seattle is pleased to announce that China Airlines of Taiwan will begin service from Taipei to Seattle on June 22. The thrice-weekly route will travel Taipei-Seattle-Houston, following the return route on the next business day.

"We're very pleased to have China Airlines in the Sea-Tac family," said Gina Marie Lindsey, managing director of aviation for the Port of Seattle. "This gives those travelers needing access to Asia additional options to meet their needs."

The new service represents the first new international passenger service at Sea-Tac in almost six years. The nonstop service to Taipei's Chiang Kai Shek Airport will provide connections to many Southeast Asian cities, including Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Singapore.

Port of Seattle officials have been meeting with China Airlines executives for many years, assuring that the route makes business sense for both the Port and China Airlines.

"We believe that this new flight expansion will extend and strengthen the already substantial economic ties between the U.S. and Taiwan and prove to be of great benefit to the cities of Taipei and Seattle," said China Airlines' Vice President, the Americas, Steve Yang.
