Sea-Tac Baggage Claim Drive & Hourly Parking To Close Overnight
-Repaving project expected to be complete by mid-morning Thursday-
The baggage claim or "lower" drive at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport will be closed overnight for repaving, which will in turn require closure of the third floor of the airport garage and a temporary relocation of ground transportation services normally provided there.
- The third floor of the garage will close at 10 p.m. this evening. Taxi and shuttle services normally located there will move to the northern half of the ticketing or "upper" drive. Port of Seattle personnel will be present to help arriving passengers find the services they need. The third floor will reopen at 5 a.m. Thursday. Taxis and shuttles will return to their normal service location at that time.
- Hourly parking will be inaccessible as part of the third floor closure. Drivers should use general parking on floors four or above, as there is no difference in rates for less than two hours. Hourly parking will also reopen at 5 a.m. Thursday.
- The baggage claim drive will close at midnight. The left lane will reopen at 5 a.m. but curbside pickups will be restricted to the northern section of curb. All lanes are expected be open by 10 a.m. Thursday.
- King County Metro buses will operate along International Blvd. during the closure period.
This work is the final stage of a project to widen the baggage claim drive that began in July 2003. Once complete there will be three through lanes of traffic plus a dedicated curbside lane for buses.
Editors: This work is very weather dependent. Any rainfall in the 12 hours preceding the work will require cancellation. We will keep you advised.
