Watson appointed General Counsel for Port of Seattle

Craig Watson, an attorney with the Port of Seattle since 1990, has been named General Counsel.

Watson's duties will include providing legal advice to the CEO and Port Commission, supervising a staff of six in-house attorneys, and managing outside legal counsel.

At the Port, Watson has worked on labor and employment law, construction-related matters, personal injury cases and insurance coverage matters. Previously, he worked for the Portland-based law firm Bullivant Houser Bailey in its Seattle office as a civil litigator specializing in property loss and personal injury matters.

"Over the past 14 years Craig has been front and center on a wide array of Port issues and litigation matters," said Linda Strout, Deputy CEO and whom Watson succeeds as General Counsel. "He is widely respected as an expert on Port policies as well as for his legal acumen and professionalism. He is a natural for the General Counsel position."

Watson received his law degree in 1984 from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. After law school, he served as a clerk at the Oregon Court of Appeals.

"I appreciate the support shown by my colleagues and supervisors and look forward to continuing to serve with them," Watson said.
