Port Selects Salt Lake City Police Executive as New Deputy Police Chief
-Gale Evans, retired FBI agent, currently chief of Salt Lake City Airport Police-
The Port of Seattle announced today that it has selected Gale Richard Evans to serve as the next deputy chief of the Port of Seattle Police Department. Evans retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1999 after 28 years of service, and is currently Chief of Police for the Salt Lake City Airports Authority.
"Gale brings a wealth of knowledge and experience both as an airport police chief at Salt Lake and a senior manager at the FBI," said Port of Seattle Police Chief Tim Kimsey. "I am confident he will add great value to the Port of Seattle Police Department."
Evans holds a bachelor's degree from Birmingham Southern College (Alabama) in Political Science and History. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service Institute.
Evans will start work on Oct. 31. He fills the position left vacant when Deputy Chief John R. Batiste was appointed by Governor Christine Gregoire to head the Washington State Patrol.
