Port of Seattle lauded for Annual Report
The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) yesterday recognized the Port of Seattle for outstanding work in the area of communications. The Port's 2004 annual report won an Award of Excellence from the AAPA in the association's annual communications competition. The announcement was made at the association's annual conference in Tampa.
Titled 2004 Report to the Community, the annual report was published on newsprint and inserted in the Sunday Seattle Times/Post Intelligencer and the King County Journal on May 15th, as well as the Puget Sound Business Journal on May 13th. Total combined circulation was 514,000. Previous reports had been published primarily as glossy brochures and mailed to fewer recipients.
The Port of Seattle entry rose above those submitted by six other ports in the same class and was the only one to receive a perfect score from a member of the judging committee. The competition was adjudicated by members of the Public Relations Society of America, the International Association of Business Communicators, trade journalists and communications professors.
