Vehicle Height Limit Raised in Sea-Tac Airport Garage

- Vehicles up to seven feet in height may now park in the garage -

The Port of Seattle announced today that vehicles up to seven feet in height may be parked in the main garage structure at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

"This change will make it more convenient for travelers with vans and SUVs to park in the garage," said Mark Reis, managing director of aviation for the Port. "We have limited parking in the over height lot, located adjacent to the garage, so it's to everyone's benefit that we put as many vehicles as possible into the garage."

Due to construction, there are about one-third fewer spaces in the airport over height parking lot. Reis noted that the change should especially improve access for disabled passengers who travel in large and often specially-modified vans. "We have plenty of disabled parking spaces throughout the garage and we're very happy that more travelers will now be able to make use of them."

There is a possibility that a security directive could require the Port to again reduce the height allowance. "However, with current construction challenges, we've got to find ways to alleviate the crowding in the over height area and accommodate our customers," Reis said.
