Seattle, Dalian Ports sign Friendship Agreement

Port of Seattle CEO Tay Yoshitani and Sun Hong, President of the Dalian Port Corporation, signed an agreement yesterday establishing a Friendship Port Agreement between the two entities. The signing ceremony took place in Port of Seattle Commission Chambers at Pier 69.

"This agreement will serve as a platform for enhancing the flow of information and for promoting personnel exchange between the two ports," Yoshitani said. "The relationship will help both ports develop trade and business opportunities."

The Port of Dalian, located in Northeastern China on Korea Bay, was founded in 1899. The Port's container volume in 2005 was 2.66 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), making it one of China's 10 largest container ports.
