Port of Seattle Unveils Clean, Green Logo
At employee forums held this week, the Port of Seattle unveiled a new logo for the organization - the fourth in the organization's 97-year history. The new design features three horizontal lines representing land, sea and air as well as the Port's three divisions - aviation, real estate and seaport.
CEO Tay Yoshitani notes that the three lines represent an equally important triad: the three legs of sustainability. "Throughout our organization, we are committed to promoting economic development, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship," he said. "It is important that our logo serves as a constant reminder of the Port of Seattle's commitment to promoting sustainability in every aspect of our business."
Commission President John Creighton agrees. "Environmental stewardship is a primary goal for the Port, one that I promoted when I became commission president," he noted. "As a leader in our industry and our community, the Port of Seattle has both opportunity and obligation to demonstrate sound environmental principles. I am very pleased that our new logo reflects that commitment."
Employees chose the new logo in a recent vote. The new design was the clear winner over the two other logos presented, receiving 67 percent of votes cast.
In keeping with sustainable practices, the Port will transition to the new logo as business cards, letterhead and signage need to be replaced through attrition. Electronic communications will reflect the change immediately.
