Port Commission Elects 2009 Officers

Commissioner Bill Bryant chosen as president

The Port of Seattle Commission elected the 2009 slate of officers during the public meeting held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. Commissioner Bill Bryant will serve as Commission President for 2009, with Commissioner Gael Tarleton serving as Vice President. Commissioner Lloyd Hara was elected to the post of Commission Secretary.

“Tens of thousands of families in our region depend on the Port of Seattle Commission to keep the Port competitive in a changing economy,” said Commissioner Bryant. “The challenges that face our region demand that we provide a long-term vision for the airport, the seaport, the North Pacific Fishing Fleet, and the many businesses that depend on a thriving maritime industry.”

Outgoing Commission President John Creighton noted the accomplishments and challenges faced during his two-year tenure as chair, particularly the Port’s ongoing environmental initiatives. “I am very proud of the progress we’ve made as environmental stewards,” Creighton said. “During my time as President, the Port has made significant strides in accountability – to our environment, to our customers, and to our taxpayers.”

The Port Commission elects officers at the first meeting of each year.
