Gateway To China: Hainan Airlines Inaugurates Non-stop Seattle-Beijing Flights in June

photo of Chinese dancersHainan Airlines, a new airline for Sea-Tac Airport, will begin non-stop flights four times a week between Seattle and Beijing on June 9. Hainan, the largest private airline in China, has an extensive network of flights within China that will enable Seattle travelers to connect to more than 40 Chinese cities, including the capitals of each province. The Hainan flight to Beijing will also offer convenient connecting flights to Shanghai and other major Chinese cities.

The flight from Seattle to Beijing will take approximately 11 ½ hours and the return from Beijing to Seattle will be a 10 ½ hour flight.

The non-stop flight will operate four times a week on Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays.

A New Airline for Sea-Tac Airport – Virgin America – Begins Daily Non-stops to San Francisco and Los Angeles

Virgin America, the fourth new airline to announce service to and from Seattle in 2007, has begun serving Sea-Tac Airport with new flights to California.

Virgin America's new routes began on March 18, with three daily non-stop flights between Seattle and San Francisco International Airport. On April 8, 2008, three daily non-stop flights will begin between Seattle and Los Angeles International Airport. A fourth daily flight between Seattle and LA is scheduled to begin on May 11, 2008. Northwest Airlines Begins Daily Non-stops to London in June and to Beijing in March 2009

Northwest to London

Just in time for the busy summer travel season, Northwest Airlines will begin daily flights from Sea-Tac Airport to London 's Heathrow Airport on June 1, 2008.

The planned flight schedule:

Northwest to Beijing

On March 1, 2009, Northwest Airlines will become the second airline to offer non-stop service between Seattle and Beijing and the first to offer daily flights. Hainan Airlines begins Seattle-Beijing service on June 9 this year with four weekly flights.

Lufthansa Now Offers Daily Seattle-Frankfurt Service

A new airline and a new international route arrived at Sea-Tac Airport on March 30, 2008. Lufthansa Airlines now offers daily, non-stop service between Seattle and Frankfurt. The new flight not only connects Seattle to Germany, but also allows Lufthansa passengers to make connections to some 135 destinations in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Russia, Africa and India. JetBlue To Begin Flights from Seattle to California in May

Beginning on May 21, JetBlue Airways will offer daily flights to both Long Beach and San Diego from Sea-Tac Airport.

The airline plans two daily flights to Long Beach:

Alaska Airlines Adds Five New Flights to California

Alaska has added three new daily roundtrip flights between Seattle and Los Angeles, bringing the total daily flights on this route to 15. The Los Angeles-bound flights depart on the hour and return on the half-hour. The airline has also added an additional daily roundtrip to Orange County, offering nine flights a day. It increased its daily roundtrips to San Diego from seven to eight.

AirTran Airways to Add Non-stops to Baltimore and Seasonal Flights to Milwaukee

AirTran Airways has begun daily non-stop flights between Seattle and Baltimore and resumed its seasonal Seattle-Milwaukee service.
