Serving the Port

Larry is committed to helping the Executive team and all staff be effective and overcome obstacles, and acting as a gate-opener. He joined the Port in 2014 and draws upon more than 25 years in public and private sector public affairs, including 15 years of experience in state and federal transportation policy, funding, and advocacy. Hel has served as Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Slade Gorton, and as an executive with the Washington State Department of Transportation. Larry also served as Secretary for the Western Association of State DOTs and helped to lead national and West Coast transportation coalitions.

Prior to joining the Port Ehl wrote and published Transportation Issues Daily, a nationally recognized e-newsletter providing stories about transportation policy and funding issues in Washington D.C. and around the country. He has been a featured speaker at many state and national conferences and workshops.

Serving the community

Larry was elected and reelected to the Edmonds School District Board (which earned State School Board of the Year) and served as a longtime Board Member of the Cascade Land Conservancy (now Forterra), and United Way of Snohomish County. More recently Larry was appointed to and served on the Edmonds Center for the Arts’ Public Facilities Board.
