This event is cosponsored by the King County Library System and SoCoCulture and features Port of Seattle employees. Registration required at the King County Library System website.
In The Honey Bus, May writes about trying to understand her mother’s mental health issues, and about how she spent her formative years with her grandfather, who raised honeybees on a retired military bus.
Read The Honey Bus in advance, then come to this program to discuss the book and hear from Port of Seattle wildlife management staff and local beekeepers who have collaborated on another very unusual location for raising bees – on the airfield at SeaTac Airport. If weather permits, following the discussion we will tour some of the hives on Port property at the airport. Wear suitable walking shoes; this tour has limited accessibility options. This program will last about an hour and a half.
Copies of the book will be available for checkout at the Burien, Kent, and Des Moines Libraries.
6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
