Celebrate SeaTac's forests and leave a legacy — plant a tree! Volunteer with your family and friends to kick off the planting season at North SeaTac Park. All ages, identities, and experience levels welcome. Tools and gloves provided. These planting events are part of a multi-year collaborative project to involve communities near the airport (Burien, Des Moines, and SeaTac) in Forterra’s Green City Partnerships program. The program was created with the philosophy that healthy forested parks and green spaces have the power to strengthen neighborhoods, provide safe access to nature, and offer many valuable benefits to the environment.
Forterra’s Green City Partnerships program works with 15 cities and one county in the region to steward and restore urban forests. The Port’s Airport Community Ecology (ACE) funding has helped to bring Burien, Des Moines, and SeaTac into the network.
To reduce the spread of COVID-19, we will have the following precautions:
- Required mask-wearing
- Limiting event size to 50 participants
- Pre-packaged food
What to bring
Wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes, long sleeves and pants. Please wear closed toed shoes and clothes that can get dirty. Bring gardening gloves or hand tools (clippers especially), if you have them.
