SEA Airport Operation Rules for Drones (UAV/UAS)

No Fly Zone MapUnmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) or Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) near SEA Airport

UAV Flights are prohibited in Class B Airspace

(Unless prior approval is granted by FAA Air Traffic Control). See map below showing approximate Class B Airspace and five-mile radius.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), more commonly called "drones," are incompatible with flight operations at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Certain restrictions apply when operated within five (5) miles of the airport.

New Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements necessitate operators of UAV/UASs to provide notice to the controlling airport/s and Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) facilities of planned operations within a five-mile radius of the airport.

“Model Aircraft” operators must contact the respective Airport and ATCT when operating inside a five-mile radius of any airport. Certain other flight restrictions and issues may be in effect.
