Why is SEA Spot Saver going away?

You probably have some questions about why this program is going away. We understand, because we loved it too. SEA has grown over the years. In fact, we are the 11th busiest airport in the country and very small in size compared to the Top 10. This led to some longer checkpoint wait times in the past. We developed and launched SEA Spot Saver in 2021 as one way to help manage those wait times while we looked at longer-term solutions to keep up with growth.

Some of those solutions include the new Checkpoint 1 and redesigned Checkpoint 6 which opened in 2025 under the UpgradeSEA program. With more lanes and additional tools in place, lines are and have been moving quickly, with over 94% of travelers getting through in 20 minutes or less.

You’ve noticed it too! Because lines are moving so well, people are using the program less. We know you love Spot Saver, but we also know that many of you arrive and find it’s faster to pick an open lane instead of wait for your reservation – and that’s ok! It’s exactly what we hoped for with all this planning.

All this to say that, while SEA Spot Saver is going away, it will forever be a great part of our story, thanks to all of you! If you have more questions, contact SEA Customer Care. For more resources and information on checkpoint screening types, locations, and getting through security, check out security and Checkpoints webpage. You can also monitor live Checkpoint wait times online, on digital signage in the terminal, or by downloading the flySEA app available for free on iOS and Android. Stay up to date with all things SEA by following us on social or signing up for a newsletter.

And once again – thank you for being an SEA Spot Saver! See you next time at the airport.
