Two more new international options are now available to Seattle-area travelers as Delta Air Lines inaugurated new nonstop flights this week including the first-ever service to Spain from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Seasonal nonstops to Rome and Barcelona from Delta are welcomed to the roster of SEA international services, now reaching 60 overall.
Delta, the largest international carrier at SEA, is the first to serve the route to Barcelona and second to serve Rome. Both iconic destinations in Europe offer travelers unique experiences for leisure and business opportunities for food, history, and culture.
“Delta Air Lines’ launch of two new direct flights to Barcelona and Rome from SEA demonstrates their commitment to building a global hub here in Seattle,” said Ryan Calkins, Port of Seattle Commission President. “With their top-notch service to and from Europe, Delta is opening up our region to Southern Europe for personal travel and business opportunities. SEA now boasts 60 direct international flights, with more to come.”
Service to Barcelona will be three times per week while Rome service will be four times per week. Each will fly A330-900 aircraft. This adds to Delta’s leading position for international services at SEA with nonstop service to Amsterdam, London, Paris, Seoul, Shanghai, Taipei, and Tokyo-Haneda.
“Delta is proud to further strengthen our position as the global airline in Seattle with the launch of new nonstop service to Rome and Barcelona,” said Joan Wang, Managing Director — Global Sales. “These new routes reflect our continued commitment to the Seattle community and our investment in providing customers with more premium, convenient access to some of the world’s most sought-after destinations.”
