Port of Seattle Master Plan Draft Environmental Impact Statement for SEA Airport to be Released May 22

Public comment period open May 22
April 22, 2026

The draft State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Port of Seattle’s Sustainable Airport Master Plan (SAMP) for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) will be available for public comment starting May 22, 2026.

The EIS is a crucial step in the SEPA process, helping SEA assess potential environmental effects of proposed actions and hear from the people who use, work at, and live near the airport.

The Puget Sound region is projected to grow by another one million people by 2035. To accommodate this growth and align with the Port’s sustainability goals, SAMP will serve as SEA’s strategic blueprint for future development. This plan includes 31 near-term projects, including a second terminal, an elevated busway, and new cargo facilities.

Details about the SEPA process, proposed projects, and how to submit public comment are available on the SAMP website. The public comment period will begin May 22, 2026. Once the comment period begins, official comments can be submitted by email, mail, at one of the virtual and in-person meetings hosted by SEA, or on the SAMP website.
