The Port of Seattle welcomes Cathay Pacific’s nonstop service to Hong Kong with their inaugural flight from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Coinciding with the airline’s 80th anniversary celebrations, the arriving Airbus A350 aircraft — wearing Cathay Pacific’s classic “lettuce leaf sandwich” livery — was welcomed with a ceremonious lion dance and ribbon cutting at the gate. This marks the last pre-pandemic carrier to return to SEA and will kick-start several new international offerings from SEA this year, boosting such services to more than 60.
“Direct service from Seattle to Hong Kong is back, and we couldn’t be more thrilled,” said Sam Cho, Port of Seattle Commissioner. “This connection opens exciting opportunities for both business and leisure travelers, strengthening ties between our regions and expanding access for our community.”
“As Cathay Pacific marks 80 years of connecting Hong Kong with the world, we are delighted to resume service to Seattle–Tacoma International Airport,” said Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer at Cathay Pacific. “Seattle is an important gateway for travelers across the Pacific Northwest, and this renewed connection strengthens access to Hong Kong and the Cathay Group’s network of more than 100 destinations across Asia and beyond. We look forward to deepening our partnership with SEA and welcoming passengers on board.”
Cathay Pacific’s new year-round route operates five times per week on 250-seat Airbus A350-900 aircraft (38 Business, 28 Premium Economy, and 214 Economy seats). As a oneworld Alliance co-founder, Cathay Pacific enables passengers to connect in Seattle to/from Alaska Airlines’ extensive network across North America.
