Two more international options are now available for Seattle-area travelers as Alaska Airlines pushed nonstop international services over 60 at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). The addition of London and Reykjavik over the past week completed six new inaugural services added to SEA’s international menu for area travelers so far this year.
The latest addition saw inaugural gate celebrations last night for the first flight to Reykjavik (KEF) on an Alaska Boeing 737 MAX 8. The seasonal service is their third European destination and will provide connections to destinations throughout Europe on Alaska’s partner, Icelandair.
Last Thursday, London was toasted with a kickoff of daily, year-round service to Heathrow’s Terminal 3, adding even more connections to global destinations via oneworld partners. These are the fourth and fifth new international routes from SEA for Alaska, after earlier launches of Tokyo, Seoul, and Rome.
“Alaska Airlines’ international expansion has been a significant milestone for SEA as well as the entire region," said Sam Cho, Port of Seattle Commissioner. “It has cemented SEA’s place as a premier global gateway and one of just a few airports to serve as hubs to two long-haul international airlines.”
This is the latest effort by Alaska Airlines to expand internationally, adding two exciting new services to SEA’s global map of connectivity.
“As we connect the West Coast to Europe in new ways, our focus is on delivering a meaningful experience that feels distinctly Alaska – warm, thoughtful, and elevated at every touchpoint," said Andrew Harrison, Chief Commercial Officer, Alaska Airlines. “For our guests in the U.S., we’re opening more convenient access to Europe with the airline they know and love, and for our guests in Europe and beyond, we’re bringing our signature West Coast hospitality to every step of the journey, reflecting the comfort and care we’re known for.”
