Donation Drop @ SEA

Attention travelers: Resources and information for U.S. travelers in the Middle East Security Information for Travelers

Security wait times at SEA remain normal at this time. We appreciate the TSA staff who continue to provide services while working without pay. Arrive 2 hours before domestic and 3 hours before international departures.

Sustainable travel is built into how Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) operates

Donation Drop @ SEA supports sustainability by reducing waste from items travelers cannot take through TSA Checkpoints, while creating opportunities to donate usable goods to the Des Moines Area Food Bank

SEA partners with TSA to collect unopened or lightly used toiletries and personal items exceeding the 3.4-ounce limit at security checkpoints. In 2025, SEA customers donated over 2,500 lbs. of items, diverting usable goods from landfills to our local community in need.

How it Works

Items not allowed in carry-ons, such as shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash over 3.4 ounces, are collected in designated bins for donation to the Des Moines Area Food Bank. Products are screened by airport staff, ensuring that only sealed or lightly used items are set aside for donation. The Des Moines Food Bank then conducts a final inspection to confirm that all items are suitable for distribution.

Working together with travelers, we ensure the airport experience is responsible to our community and planet. Donation Drop @ SEA is available at all TSA Checkpoints, find the one closest to you on the interactive map.
