Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) welcomes the announcement by Delta Air Lines for new international daily service to Taipei (TPE) beginning June 6, 2024. This continues SEA’s increase of international services since the pandemic and the rapid success of the new International Arrivals Facility (IAF) to welcome the world to the Puget Sound region.
Delta is marking its 90th anniversary in Seattle, dating back to the start of operations by Northwest Airways in 1933. Plus this will be Delta’s inaugural nonstop flight to Taipei from the United States and the first Delta aircraft operation to TPE since 2017 via Narita International Airport.
“The Port of Seattle welcomes today’s announcement as Delta continues to build on SEA’s status as a hub and its West Coast gateway to Asia,” said Port of Seattle Commission President Sam Cho. “With the addition of the new International Arrivals Facility in 2022, SEA is providing a dramatic welcome to the world visiting and doing business in the Puget Sound region. We are excited Delta is demonstrating its commitment to continuing to build on that vision.”
The new Taipei service will be Delta’s fourth nonstop Asia-Pacific destination from SEA after Seoul, Shanghai, and Tokyo-Hanada.
“This route not only opens new doors to Taipei’s captivating skyline, vibrant night markets, and rich cultural heritage, but it also marks a significant stride in enhancing Seattle's global connectivity,” said Joan Wang, Managing Director – Global Sales, Seattle. “This strategic addition to Delta's Trans-Pacific portfolio is poised to make a profound impact on the Seattle market, fostering increased business and leisure travel opportunities for our discerning customers.”
Taipei is also served by EVA Airways, which has operated in Seattle since 1993. EVA currently operates SEA-TPE ten times per week.
Setting Records for International Service at SEA
An all-time record (8,512) was set this summer for passenger volume in a single day through the recently completed International Arrivals Facility, which provides travelers an expanded and more efficient experience to meet the growing regional demand for international travel. The new facility is over four times the size of the old facility and includes an iconic aerial walkway which is the longest over an active taxi lane in the world!
Delta’s service is the first new international service to be announced for 2024, with three new services added in 2023 — WestJet to Edmonton, Tahiti Nui to Paris, and Alaska Airlines to Nassau, Bahamas (beginning December 15). In 2022, SEA added four brand-new international services: Turkish Airlines to Istanbul, Air Canada to Montreal, Finnair to Helsinki, and Air Tahiti Nui to Tahiti.
Overall, 47 international services are currently in operation at SEA, providing nonstop flights to 30 unique international destinations on 25 airlines.
New Delta Flight Details
The new flights will operate daily using Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.
