Protecting the Air, Land, and Sea

In an ongoing quest to become the greenest port in North America, the Port of Seattle is committed to developing renewable energy sources and to meet all increased energy needs through conservation and renewable sources.

These initiatives below are just a small sample of recent projects that are protecting our air, land, and water and moving the Port closer to its goals to: 

  • Reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 15 percent by 2020 
  • Decrease GHG emissions by 50 percent by 2030 
  • Become carbon neutral or negative by 2050
