Port Initiatives
What began as awareness and training at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), has grown to include partners across Washington state and a variety of new efforts that educate employees and passengers and support survivors.
- 2018 - Commission passes the Port’s Comprehensive Anti-Human Trafficking Strategy.
- 2022 – Port receives US Department of Transportation’s Human Trafficking in Transportation Impact Award.
- 2023 - Port launches Port Allies Against Human Trafficking (PAAHT) pledge and installs signage throughout airport and maritime properties. In partnership with Business Ending Slavery and Trafficking (BEST), the Port created online prevention courses and the Port of Seattle Police Department developed a law enforcement-specific training plan.
- 2024 – Port launches survivor-led QR Code tool to increase reporting and support for victims and signs Memorandum of Understanding with Department of Homeland Security to co-brand with their nationwide Blue Campaign.
- 2025 – Port Police Department delivers its first anti-trafficking training to Port employees and tenants, developing the skills and awareness to recognize and interrupt trafficking. Port makes plans to expand and continue this training in the coming years.
