Hygge in a Cup: Spiked Candy Cane Coffee

December 3, 2018

Winter is here, so grab your warmest, winter chic hygge fashion for travel and snuggle up with some coziness in a cup from Seattle celebrity Chef Kathy Casey at Sea-Tac Airport.

Hygge is a fast-growing Scandinavian trend that essentially means contented coziness in the dark days of winter. The Pacific Northwest surely has many of those. As the hometown to the best-known global coffee brand and many local artisanal roasters, we have a love affair with coffee. People from around the world travel to Seattle for its coffee, and according to SmartAsset, “the city has more than 1,600 cafés and coffee shops, or about 253 per 100,000 residents. That’s the third-highest concentration of coffee sellers of any major U.S. city.”

There isn’t a more appropriate antidote to our cold, rainy, dark days than this Spiked Candy Cane Coffee — made with Baileys, Jäger, fresh brewed coffee, home-made peppermint whip, and crushed candy cane.

This cup of cheer will be available at Chef Casey’s Rel’Lish Burger Lounge on Concourse B at Sea-Tac Airport through December Chef Kathy Casey30.

Rel’Lish serves a variety of unique locally-inspired burgers with creative toppings. In addition to more than a half a dozen burger options, travelers can also enjoy a variety of salads, cocktails, appetizers, and breakfast offerings.

Chef Casey described the Spiked Candy Cane Coffee as the cocktail equivalent of warm pajamas by the fireplace or a fuzzy blanket in a cup, infused with high quality coffee with classic holiday flavors. Jäger brings a unique profile with depth and herbal notes while the cream-based Baileys offers sweetness. The peppermint beautifully rounds out this festive blend of savory meets sweet tastes.

If you’re entertaining this winter season and want to bring the fun from your travels into your home for the holidays, you can find the recipe below, courtesy of Chef Casey.

In whichever language you speak at home, cheers, salud, prost, gān bēi, santé, gesondheid, and kanpai to you and yours this holiday travel season!
