2 Alarm Garage Fire

Friday evening on December 3rd, Port of Seattle Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle fire on the 4th Floor of the Parking Garage. Battalion 301, Engine 301, Engine 302, ARFF 1 responded to the call. Upon arrival both Eng. 302 and Eng. 301 pulled handlines to the 4th floor and experienced zero visibility upon accessing the area through both the Blue Elevator Bank Stairwell and the eastside stairwell. The Incident Commander (Battalion Chief Jake Murry) requested additional units through mutual aid, eventually going to a second alarm. The quick response by BC Murry and his responding on-duty “A” shifts actions resulted in the mitigation of a serious situation that could have had a much worse result. Assisting on this call were; Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, Burien/North Highline Fire, Tukwila Fire, King County Medic 1 and Skyway Fire District #20 rehab unit.
