National Immunization Month

August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM). The goal is to bring attention to the importance of vaccines for people of all ages and how they can help prevent serious, sometimes deadly, diseases and illnesses. These efforts are so important as kids go back to school and uptick in COVID-19 cases.

Immunizations play an important role in keeping your family and your community healthy and safe. Vaccines not only protect the person receiving the vaccine, but also help protect the most vulnerable around us, such as infants, elders, and those with weakened immune systems.

Although no vaccine is 100% effective, it is the first step in protecting yourself, your family, and others from serious illness.
